Recently, one of the readers asked: "What is the smallest size of a flower possible to make in your technique?" But first, let's remember why the size of a flower in sculptural painting depends?

How to determine the size of a flower in sculptural painting?

It is very important to understand what size a three-dimensional flower will turn out before starting work. This avoids the situation when the flower does not enter the planned place in the picture.

Determining the size of the future flower is very simple. The diameter of the flower depends on the size of the palette knife with which you will make it. For example, the Classic palette knife №4 of the Evgenia Ermilova™ brand has a working area length of about 4 cm, the length of the petals created will also be about 4 cm. And the final size of the flower can be from 8 to 12 cm, depending on the location of the petals in the bud.

Before starting to create a flower, attach a palette knife to the right place of the composition and rotate it 360 degrees. This will be the approximate size that the flower created by this palette knife will take.

But an artist with a high level of mastery of the technique, if desired, can create a flower of any size: from very large to very small.

We study the creation of miniature flowers with a simple botanical structure (fruit tree flowers, cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, etc.) in the Sculpture Painting Club in the module "Simple Flowers". In these lessons Evgenia Ermilova show how to use palette knives to create small petals of different shapes.
